How much money could be saved if USA stopped putting a "Caution Bridge May Ice in Winter" sign at every bridge in the country. Firstly, we should all know that bridges may ice in winter and I'd like to add that bridges may also ice in Fall or Spring.
I imagine that this argument could be made for almost any street sign.

And perhaps it could be argued that these signs are a limiting reagent of our culture. Those not aware that bridges ice during winter should be subjected to the consequences of their ignorance and face the frigid waters of truth that lie just beyond the borders of the bridge. And as their car fills with icy water perhaps they'll exclaim their new found understanding right before their passing.
And what of slow children?
I'll leave that for another day.
